ITU-T P.1120, also known as Ultra Wideband Calling or Full Wideband Calling, which can improve the experience of in-car calls most significantly, is the ITU part of the in-car product that needs to be tested for CarPlay certification, and the current ITU content that needs to be certified are ITU-T P.1100; ITU-T P.1110; and ITU-T P.1120 respectively.

According to the updated CarPlay Certification Guide February 2021, after February 2021, P1120 has been added to the test as an item that needs to be submitted for certification. After August 2021, it has been made mandatory that ITU-T P.1120 testing is essential if CarPlay certification is required.

Introduction to P1120

P1120 is formulated by ITU-T International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standards Sub-Directorate. In order to provide more comprehensive services for in-vehicle products, Microtest has upgraded the new hardware CMW500 with Lab Core, and upgraded the test standard of ITU-T P.1120.

What is the difference between P1120 and P1100, P1110?

The test content is no different from narrowband and wideband. The main test content is the performance of the transmitter and receiver of the car, dual-talk performance, echo performance and noise processing performance. And the Ultra Wideband is different from the previous two versions of narrowband and wideband, compared with the 8KHz sampling rate of narrowband and 16KHz sampling rate of wideband, Ultra Wideband supports the maximum sampling rate of 32KHz (wired) and 48KHz (wireless) for calls, and at the same time, Ultra Wideband's frequency range reaches 50-14000Hz, and the full wideband reaches 20-20,000Hz). The test items are the same as those for wideband and narrowband.
