Related Qi2.0 certification issues raised by wireless charging supply chain enterprises, and summarized here after a unified response:
1.How can enterprises complete Qi2.0 pre-testing before September and get certified in the first batch in September?
WPC (Wireless Power Consortium) is expected to officially start Qi2.0 certification in September, before the start of the formal Qi2.0 certification, WPC suggests that enterprises start pre-certification in advance, when the formal Qi2.0 certification begins, the enterprise can be the first batch of Qi2.0 certification. Regarding Qi2.0 certification, Microtest gives the following suggestions to enterprises:
1.1Apply for encryption chip Enterprises need to apply to WPC for Qi2.0 product development plan as early as possible, contact WPC authorized encryption chip vendors, get the encryption chip samples, the time required 5-10 working days;
[At the same time, apply to WPC for enterprise PTMC (Power Transmitter Manufacturer Code) and enterprise key, which is recommended to be completed in July (the application time is about 4 weeks, Microtest can assist in the application); and then order the chip from the encryption chip vendor authorized by WPC (4 weeks after the successful application of the enterprise key)];
1.2 Product integration and development Complete the product integration and development in July, and use the obtained encryption chip samples to carry out product development with the magnetic wireless charging solution provider;
1.3 ATL delivery test and rectification Enterprises complete product delivery test and rectification in July-August, pending compatibility test delivery;
1.4 Compatibility testing and compatibility laboratory open to the WPC accredited laboratory to send the test;
1.5 Completion of Qi2.0 certification.
2. Will the official release of the Qi2.0 standard affect all-in-one products that have already passed the 1.3.3 standard?
If the 1.3.3 all-in-one product does not contain a Magsafe part, there is no impact at this time, and WPC has no plans to deprecate the 1.3.3 standard;
If a 1.3.3 All-in-One product contains a Magsafe part, it is not permitted to manufacture or sell such products 15 months after the release of the Qi2.0 standard.
3.How can an all-in-one product with both a 5-watt non-magsafe and a 15-watt magsafe coil be Qi-certified?
The 5-watt non-magnetic part requires Qi 1.3.3 BPP certification, and the 15-watt magnetic part requires Qi 2.0 MPP certification.
4. Which tests are more difficult in Qi2.0 MPP test than Qi 1.3?
There are more than 370 MPP test items in Qi2.0, more than 60% of which are FOD foreign object detection items, which is more stringent on the test positioning requirements, and the FOD foreign object detection will be a difficult rectification point for solution providers.
5.MPP products can be done to Apple cell phone 15W charging?
MPP standard is a wireless charging standard developed by WPC based on Apple's pioneering Magnetic Power Profile, when the product and Apple's cell phone at the same time to support the MPP protocol, it can support 15W charging.
